Although Glenn Maxwell didn’t have a great outing with the bat, he is making sure that he gives his everything during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The match is underway at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai.
Chasing the target of 174 runs, Chennai Super Kings were off the rollicking start even though Ruturaj Gaikwad (15) lost his wicket early. But Ajinkya Rahane made sure that he oozes his class with the bat and along with Rachin Ravindra took bowlers to cleaners.
Ajinkya Rahane played some gorgeous shots in his innings and hardly put a foot wrong in his knock. He was keeping Chennai Super Kings in the hunt and it seemed that he would take his team home. But the brilliance of Glenn Maxwell in the field saw the Indian batter back in the hut.
Cameron Green bowled a back-of-a-length ball on the middle leg again. The ball did not rise as much and Ajinkya Rahane hung back to pull the shot. The ball went off the top half as he checked his pull. It was racing towards the boundary but Glenn Maxwell interrupted in between.
Glenn Maxwell at the deep backward square put in a brilliant effort. He was a few yards in but managed to run to his left and jump at the right second to gobble the ball and send dangerous-looking Ajinkya Rahane back into the hut.

Ajinkya Rahane looked in golden touch but couldn’t cash on the start he got. The senior India batter scored 27 runs off 19 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 142 and also hit two sixes in his innings. His wicket came at the crucial juncture of the game and lifted the RCB side.
With his wicket, Chennai Super Kings lost their 4th wicket and were reduced to 99/4. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis also brought off-spinner Glenn Maxwell into the attack to trouble the opposition batters in Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube, who are potentially known as power hitters.
After Glenn Maxwell takes a brilliant catch to remove Ajinkya Rahane, CSK loses Daryl Mitchell as well
After Ajinkya Rahane got out, Chennai Super Kings came under pressure as they went on to lose Daryl Mitchell as well. The Kiwi all-rounder was looking threatening as he hit some big sixes and put RCB bowlers under pressure in the game.
But Cameron Green made sure that he removed Daryl Mitchell to bring his team back into the game. The pacer bowled a short delivery on off-stump to which Mitchell made a bit of room by backing away and looked to flat-bat this over long-on.
The batter didn’t get the proper connection as the ball came off the top half and went straight down Rajat Patidar’s throat at long-on. The Kiwi all-rounder scored 22 runs off 18 balls with the strike rate of over 122. He also hit two sixes in his innings. His wicket saw CSK tumbling at 110/4.
