Ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya’s relationship has been the talk of the town. It all began when the India allrounder replaced the India captain as the captain of Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2024.
In December last year, Mumbai Indians unceremoniously sacked Rohit Sharma as their captain and named Pandya as his replacement. The veteran batsman led the team from 2013 to 2023 and guided them to a record five IPL titles. However, the franchise believed that it was time for a change and named Pandya as their new captain after his impressive spell with Gujarat Titans.
Since then, the rumors of unrest in the Mumbai Indians’ dressing room have been doing rounds on social media. The rumors only intensified after the India captain’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, trashed Mumbai coach Mark Boucher’s comment about the captaincy change.
Many believe that all is not well between Rohit Sharma and Pandya. However, the Mumbai Indians star has put the rumors to bed by sharing a warm hug on the field during a training session. The franchise, on Wednesday (March 20), shared a video in which Pandya could be seen walking up to Rohit Sharma before the two hugged each other.

Hardik Pandya on playing with Rohit Sharma:
Earlier this week, Hardik Pandya talked about playing with Rohit Sharma for Mumbai Indians. The new Mumbai captain insisted that there would be no awkwardness between the two and hoped that Rohit would continue to guide the team.
“I don’t think it will be awkward, or anything different, it will be a nice feeling because we’ve been playing [together] for ten years. I’ve played my whole career under him, and I know he’s going to have a hand on my shoulder always,” said Pandya.
“He’s been traveling, he’s been playing. It’s been a couple of months since we’ve seen each other. Once he comes [and joins the MI camp], we’ll definitely have a chat,” he added.
IPL 2024 is scheduled to get underway on March 22 while Mumbai will begin their campaign on March 24 against Pandya’s former team Gujarat Titans.
