Watch: Hardik Pandya bombarded with 'Rohit Rohit' chants in Ahmedabad

Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Hardik Pandya isn’t getting a great reception from the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad. The 5th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is taking place between Mumbai Indians and the Gujarat Titans (GT).

The fans at the Narendra Modi International Stadium haven’t been kind to Hardik Pandya right from the start of the match. At the toss, the all-rounder received a lot of boos from the crowd. However, it wasn’t enough as fans made sure they kept giving him a tough time.

As Hardik Pandya came to bowl the first bowler, he was at the receiving end of “Rohit Rohit” chants from the crowd. The fans at the Stadium mocked the all-rounder and the video of the incident went viral on internet within the minutes.

For unversed, Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain of Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024. The all-rounder, who played for Gujarat Titans in the last two seasons, was traded back to Mumbai for INR 15 crore and the captaincy of the team, which led the franchise to remove the senior batter from the role.

Rohit Sharma getting axed as the skipper of the Mumbai Indians didn’t go well with many as the senior batter won five titles as skipper. This didn’t go well with many as they lashed out at the franchise as well as the all-rounder for the way they treated the senior opener.

Coming to the match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans, the Hardik Pandya-led side won the toss and opted to field first. They have made sure that they keep picking wickets at regular intervals and keep themselves in the game despite a powerful start by the home team.

Hardik Pandya isn’t having a great ball with the ball as he has bowled three overs in the game. The all-rounder has been taken for a lot of runs and has failed to take the wickets. On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah has been at the top of the game as he took 3 wickets.

Hardik Pandya recently talked about his bonding with Rohit Sharma. He stated that he has played most of his career under the leadership of a senior opener. He hoped that Rohit would be keeping his shoulder on his hand. He explained:

“Rohit Sharma is Captain of Team India which helps me, what this team has achieved, was achieved under his leadership and I just carry forward. I played my whole career under him and I know he will always have his hand on my shoulder.”

After Rohit Sharma has been replaced as the captain of Mumbai Indians, he hasn’t opened up about his feelings. He still no doubt be internal part of the team and is expected to play a huge role for the team as a batter. He would want to reply to all the things with his bat in the league.
