While Hardik Pandya shared the dressing room with David Miller in the last two seasons of the IPL, it did not stop him from celebrating the dismissal of the South Africa star in the ongoing match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Both the teams opened their campaign in IPL 2024 with the ongoing game. The game is also Hardik Pandya’s first IPL game since he left Gujarat Titans to return to Mumbai Indians. The India allrounder did not receive the best of receptions at his former IPL home ground as the crowd booed him continuously during the toss.
The fans also targeted him with the chants of ‘Rohit, Rohit’. Later during the game, the fans were heard shouting ‘Hardik, Hardik’ when a dog entered the playing field and was running all across the field. The Mumbai Indians skipper, however, did not let the fans’ hostility affect him as he looked animated on the field while leading the Mumbai-based outfit for the first time.
He celebrated David Miller’s dismissal in a similar fashion after the Titans star was deceived by a brilliant slower delivery from Jasprit Bumrah in the 17th over. Miller’s wicket was crucial for Mumbai Indians at that stage of the game and Bumrah provided the breakthrough.
Miller ended up miscuing the slower delivery from Bumrah straight to Hardik Pandya towards mid-off. As soon as Pandya held the catch, he started celebrating it in an animated fashion. The celebration could also have been his reply to the fans’ constant booing.

Talking about the game, the Titans finished their innings on 168 for 6 after being asked to bat first. Sai Sudharsan top-scored for the home side, scoring 45 off 39 balls while captain Shubman Gill scored 31. No other Titans batter could touch the 30-run mark. For Mumbai, Bumrah starred with the ball.
The right-arm pacer, who missed the entire IPL season last year, picked up three wickets while conceding only 14 runs in his four overs.
