Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shikhar Dhawan was clean bowled by his ex-India teammate Ishant Sharma in the ongoing game against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024.

All eyes were on the out-of-favour India opener as he came out to bat. Having lost his place in the Indian team, Shikhar Dhawan would have loved to score big to show that he has still got a lot to offer in the game. The southpaw made a blazing start and hit four fours in the first two overs.

In the first over, he hit Khaleel Ahmed for two fours to get going before hitting one more in the second over against Ishant Sharma. In the third over, he hit another four and was looking in good touch. However, he tried to be over-aggressive and paid a big price for it.

On the first ball of the fourth over, he was clean-bowled by Ishant. It was a length deliver from Ishant and the PBKS star came down the track to play the shot. However, he missed the ball and the ball went on to crash into the stumps. Shikhar Dhawan departed after scoring 22 runs off 16 balls.

Watch as Ishant Sharma clean bowls Shikhar Dhawan:

Earlier in the game, Delhi Capitals finished their innings on a competitive total of 174 for 9. They were reeling at 111 for 5 at one stage before being reduced to 138 for 7. The 170-run mark was looking tough for the Delhi-based outfit. However, Abhishek Porel came up with a fine cameo to power his side to a big total.

In the final over of the innings, the left-handed batsman hit Harshal Patel for three fours and two sixes to finish the innings on a good note. Shai Hope top-scored for DC, scoring 33 while Porel remained unbeaten on 32 off 10 balls. Talking about PBKS’ innings, they were on 53 for 2 after five overs at the time of writing this report.
