Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a great day in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They thumped Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 6 wickets in the 18th game of the league at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad to win their second game of the season.
SRH were top-notch with the bat in the game against CSK as they made sure that they hand the opposition their second loss of the season. Skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and put opposition to bat. His decision paid off well as his team came up with a brilliant performance with the ball at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
SRH didn't let CSK batter settle in at all as they chipped in with wickets at regular intervals. They started off the game pretty well as they removed Rachin Ravindra (12) early and made Ruturaj Gaikwad (26) make a mistake after a valiant start with the bat in the game.
SRH came under a bit of pressure when Shivam Dube (45) and Ajinkya Rahane (35) were involved in a partnership. But with the way they made a comeback in the game, it was nothing short of exceptional as they applied breaks on the scoring rate and didn't let the opposition score runs freely.
Skipper Pat Cummins executed his plans brilliantly and didn't allow batters to end the innings on high. SRH conceded 50 runs in the last 7 overs and restricted CSK to the below-par total of 165 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
The start they got in the chase was as icing on the cake for them. Abhishek Sharma (37) took bowlers to the cleaners and gave his team much-needed momentum right at the start. Travis Head, who was dropped on, made sure he made CSK pay as he played a crucial innings of 31 runs.
Aiden Markram supported the openers pretty well as he slammed a half-century to take his team close to the target. Things got a bit tense in the end but Heinrich Klaasen (10*) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (14*) held their nerves and took their team home with 6 wickets in hand and won their second game of the season.
As SRH won the game, the owner of the franchise Kavya Maran erupted in jubilation. She was elated with the way her team performed and was seen clapping for the way her team performed.

First thing is always to get the points - Pat Cummins after SRH's win
Skipper Pat Cummins was elated with the way his team performed against CSK. He admitted that it was difficult to bat on a slow pitch and they were happy for getting two points. He also praised Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head for their vital knocks. Speaking to broadcasters, he explained:
"Different soil. Slowed up a little bit as the game went on. Shivam was hitting it well against the spin. Thought we'll take a chance with off-cutters. The first thing is always to get the points. Wouldn't want to be bowling to him (Abhishek) and Trav Head at the top. The crowd was crazy tonight. When MS walked out, it was as loud as I've ever heard."
Sunrisers Hyderabad will be next seen in action when they take on Punjab Kings on 9th April.
