Mumbai Indians head coach Mark Boucher and skipper Hardik Pandya were shut by a reporter over a question about Rohit Sharma ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The duo couldn’t reply to the question and stayed quiet.

Mark Boucher and Hardik Pandya interacted with the media ahead of the IPL. However, one of the questions that they faced caught the attention of many. During the interaction, a reporter brought in the topic of Rohit Sharma.

He asked Mark Boucher and Hardik Pandya was asked as to what made Mumbai Indians management take the decision that Rohit Sharma shouldn’t captain the team and the all-rounder should. The duo had no answer to it but they did a bizarre thing.

Mark Boucher went silent and didn’t wish to respond whereas Hardik Pandya was seen giving a evil laugh about the same. The video of the incident went viral on the internet within seconds. Here’s the clip of the same:

Mark Boucher going silent and Hardik Pandya giving an evil laugh didn’t go well with many fans on social. They expressed their disappointment with the way the duo disrespected question related to Rohit. They gave some angry reactions to the video and here are some of them:

Rohit Sharma captained Mumbai Indians to five IPL trophies in the league. He took over the leadership of the team in 2013 and won the title in his very first season as the captain of the team. After that, he didn’t look back and made the franchise dominant in the league.

Rohit Sharma then won titles in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020 as a leader of the team. It’s fair to say that he is one of the main reasons behind the success of the franchise. On the other hand, Hardik Pandya was part of the franchise till 2022 before joining Gujarat Titans.

Ahead of the IPL 2024, Hardik Pandya was traded to Mumbai Indians and if this was not enough, he also was handed the captaincy. This came as a surprise, especially after the way Rohit Sharma has captained the team in the tournament.

Hardik Pandya was also asked about the captaincy change. Replying to this, he stated that he expects Rohit Sharma to guide him as he has played all of his career under him. He stated:

“Rohit Sharma is Captain of Team India which helps me, what this team has achieved, was achieved under his leadership and I just carry forward. I played whole career under him and I know he will always have his hand on my shoulder.”

Hardik Pandya was also asked about if he has had a chat with Rohit Sharma since the captaincy change. The all-rounder stated that he would catch up with the senior batter once he joins the team. He added:

“I haven’t got a lot of time to talk with Rohit because he has been touring. I will definitely catch up when he links up with the team.”

Rohit Sharma is expected to join the squad soon. Mumbai Indians will open their campaign against Gujarat Titans on 24th March at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad.
