Watch: Mumbai Indians unveil their brand-new jersey for IPL 2024

The Mumbai Indians have unveiled their brand new jersey for the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League and it’s giving off a dapper look. The 5-time champions have collaborated with sports apparel brand Skechers for this year’s jersey and it marks the brand’s first time associating with an IPL team. MI took to their official X (formerly Twitter) account to reveal their new threads for the 17th season.
Mumbai Indians will not just be donning their new jersey but also step out on the field with a new captain in place. The controversial decision to bring Hardik Pandya back to the franchise and appoint him as the skipper will materialize this season. In his first match as MI captain, Pandya will face his previous franchise Gujarat Titans with whom the all-rounder won the 2022 IPL edition.

Mumbai’s jersey this year has some slight but very attractive changes from last season. While the collar has retained the same zipped-up style, the detailing on the shirt is just so exquisite. The makers – Skechers have given attention to detail and the patterns on the shirt evidently display “M” designed over the jersey.
There are also a few golden stripes on the sides and the shoulders which makes the outfit look even more glorious. The release video contained visuals of Mumbai Indians fans putting on the jerseys in some of the iconic places in Maharashtra. There are visuals of the sea link, the CST railway station, the famous beaches, the local railway stations, and the Gateway of India.
MI’s new threads have received mixed reactions from fans who are still demanding for Rohit Sharma to be re-appointed as the captain. Others have appreciated their new jersey’s design and are waiting to see the new MI captain wear it and win matches for the side.
With the golden touch on their jersey, Mumbai Indians will hoping to have a golden season by claiming their 6th IPL title in May 2024. Last season they had reached the playoffs for the first time since 2020 when they won a record 5th IPL silverware. MI finished 5th and 10th in the league table in 2021 and 2022 and had a 4th-place finish last year.
The Rohit Sharma-led team after beating Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator fixture, lost to Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans in the qualifier 2 by 62 runs. And this year with a new leadership in place, Mumbai will once again aim for the stars.
Mumbai Indians full squad for IPL 2024
The new-look Mumbai Indians will begin their IPL 2024 campaign against Gujarat Titans in an away fixture at the Narendra Modi Stadium on March 24. MI will then fly over to Hyderabad for a clash against the Sunrisers on 27th March before 2 home games against Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals on April 1 and 7.
