Mayank Dagar’s first innings with the bat in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) ended in an unfortunate manner as he found himself on the receiving end of a stunning throw from Nicholas Pooran during the game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday (April 2).

He came out to bat in the 17th over after Naveen-ul-Haq dismissed Dinesh Karthik on the fifth ball of the over. Mayank Dagar began with a dot and had to start the 18th over on the non-striker’s end. And on the very first ball of the 18th over, he was run out while trying to take a second run.

Mahipal Lomror miscued a big shot towards long-on off Yash Thakur’s bowling. The ball fell well short of Nicholas Pooran who was standing at long-on and the RCB players decided to take two runs. They completed the first run quickly before Lomror decided against taking the second run.

However, Mayank Dagar was already at the halfway mark on the pitch when Lomror sent him back. The RCB spinner turned back quickly to get inside his crease but lost his balance and fell on the pitch. In the meantime, Nicholas Pooran picked up the ball and sensationally produced a direct hit with a bullet throw at the striker’s end to send back Mayank Dagar.

Talking about the game, LSG thrashed RCB by 28 runs to register their second win in IPL 2024. On the other hand, RCB lost their third game in four games. It was also their second defeat in three games at home this season.

Asked to bat first, LSG posted a competitive total of 181 for 5 in 20 overs. Opener Quinton de Kock laid the foundation for the big total by scoring 81 runs off 56 balls before Nicholas Pooran provided the finishing touches. He smashed as many as five sixes in the last two overs to help his side score 33 runs and finish on 181.

In reply, RCB were bowled out for just 153 in the 20th over. Mayank Yadav starred with the ball again, taking 3 for 14 off his four overs.
