Watch: Punjab Kings unveil new IPL 2024 jersey as Shikhar Dhawan joins Preity Zinta in dance at launch event

Punjab Kings (PBKS) have revealed their jersey for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Skipper Shikhar Dhawan along with co-owner Preity Zinta unveiled the kit of the franchise during an event in Mohali ahead of the 17th edition of the team. 

Famous Punjabi skipper Gippy Grewal was also present at the jersey reveal event of the franchise. But what caught the attention of many was the jubilation of skipper Shikhar Dhawan and co-owner Preity Zinta as the team unveiled their kit. 

Shikhar Dhawan and Preity Zinta were seen dancing to the beats of the singer of Gippy Grewal. In the video that went viral on the internet, the duo was seen doing dance steps on the song “Nach Punjaban”. Here’s the video:

For the fans on social media, Punjab Kings posted a separate video in which they unveiled their jersey. The video features skipper Shikhar Dhawan, who can be seen donning the new jersey. The franchise put the clip with the caption: “Aajao fer dhol valley! Aa lo ji pesh aa tuhade samne, Punjab de sunehre rangaan naal bani hoyi 𝐒𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐢 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐲, 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐲, 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐲!”

The jersey is red with shades of orange in it. Punjab Kings would be hoping that the new kit would bring good luck to them and change their fortunes. They haven’t won a title in the league and are even struggling to qualify for the playoffs. 

The newly built Stadium in Mullanpur, Mohali will be the home ground for Punjab Kings in the IPL 2024. They will be playing their last two games at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. There have been a few reports which have suggested the same. 

Since 2014, the Punjab Kings haven’t been able to qualify for the playoffs. But with the experience and young guns in the team this time around, they would be hoping to change their fortunes this time around and win their maiden title in the league.

Shikhar Dhawan to play crucial role for Punjab Kings in the IPL 

For Punjab Kings to win the IPL 2024, skipper Shikhar Dhawan will have to lead from the front. He will be extremely vital for the team in the upcoming season. Since the last few seasons, he has been at his best in the league and has piled up truckloads of runs for the teams that he has played. 

Apart from his batting, Shikhar Dhawan will also have to captain the team well. With the kind of resources Punjab Kings has this time around, it’s fair to say that if they make use of their potential to the full extent, no one can stop them from winning the IPL 2024.
