Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli motivated his team after their loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Virat Kohli urged his teammates to remain focused and resolute on their path to success in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.

The Bengaluru-based franchise endured their second loss of the season against the Knight Riders at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday, March 29. The RCB team failed to defend a target of 183 runs, resulting in a seven-wicket loss in the recent match.

The Faf du Plessis-led team currently occupies sixth place in the IPL 2024 standings, with four points and a net run rate (NRR) of -0.711. Meanwhile, the Shreyas Iyer-led side moved to second place in the table, having secured two wins in two games and four points.

After the match, Glenn Maxwell awarded Virat Kohli the ‘RCB’s Player of the Match’ title, followed by presenting him with a gift hamper. This gesture highlighted Kohli’s exceptional performance during the game, adding a touch of camaraderie among teammates.

Really Look Forward To This Hamper – Virat Kohli

In a video shared by RCB’s official handle on X (formerly Twitter), Virat Kohli expressed his determination to bounce back from their recent setback. Kohli emphasized the importance of acceptance and resilience in moving forward with confidence.

“I really look forward to this hamper. Every night I think about it. But, on a more serious note, we had a tough night, we all tough know that. We are much better than that so, as long as we accept it, and move forward with the same courage, and the same belief in our skills. That is all we can come up with, so let us stay on that path,” Kohli said.

Bengaluru’s batters faced difficulties after being asked to bat first. However, Kohli and Cameron Green formed a partnership of 65 runs for the second wicket. Kohli remained unbeaten with 83 runs off 59 deliveries, with the help of four boundaries and as many sixes.

Kolkata openers Sunil Narine and Philip Salt added 85 runs during the powerplay. Their performance enabled them to comfortably chase down the target with 19 balls remaining. Sunil Narine was named Player of the Match for his exceptional batting performance.

We Are Constantly Challenged – Andy Flower

After the match, Andy Flower acknowledged the challenges of defending a target on a good chasing ground. He emphasized the need for constant adaptation and problem-solving in cricket.

Firstly, we know its a good chasing ground. It was going to be harder to defend 180 odd runs. It is a fact that we don’t want to ignore. But they did outbowl us with their variations, you got to give that to them,” Flower said.

One of the great things about this game are, we are constantly challenged. And no matter how experienced or inexperienced we are, we always have to find solutions. We have got some talking time, some thinking time and some training time as well,” Flower added.
