While the cricketing world is well aware of Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s dedication to batting, there are very few who know the extent of it. Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson has revealed just how dedicated his teammate is when it comes to batting.
Ahead of the seventeenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Samson has revealed that the opening batter loves to bat in the nets so much that he has to be pulled out of it. Not only the opposition bowlers but also the support staff of Rajasthan Royals have also faced the wrath of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s bat. Samson revealed that one of the Royals’ net bowlers had to be hospitalized due to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s batting.
“That has to be Jaiswal,” Samson said when asked to name the player who spends the longest time in the nets. “Jaiswal has to be pulled out of nets for the last 3-4 years.
“We have four Sardar ji’s in our practice camp. They are called Cut, Pull, Flick, and Drive. The guy called ‘Cut’ only throws balls for cut during practice, the guy called Pull only bowls pull to practice. So same for the other guys. All four of them dislocated their shoulders because of Jaiswal last season. And RR has to go ensure the treatment. They were in the hospital and made a comeback. I think instead of players, the staff gets injured because of Jaiswal,” he added.
Yashasvi Jaiswal eyes another big season:
Yashasvi Jaiswal will be eyeing another impressive outing in the IPL this season. He enjoyed a brilliant campaign last year. scoring more than 600 runs with the help of five half-centuries and a century. He was the fifth-highest run-scorer in IPL 2023. Overall, he scored an impressive 625 runs from 14 games and earned his maiden India call-up for the West Indies soon.
The left-handed batsman has been in good form. In the recently concluded five-match Test series against England, he was the highest run-scorer. While no other batter could even touch the 500-run mark in the series, he scored 712 runs with the help of two back-to-back double centuries and three half-centuries.
A good outing in IPL 2024 can very well pave the way for his entry into India’s squad for this year’s T20 World Cup. He has already played 17 T20Is for Team India and has scored more than 500 runs with the help of a century and four half-centuries.
