IPL 2025 Team Budget
The cricketing fraternity is eagerly waiting for the IPL 2025 mega auction. The much-awaited event will be taking place on November 24 and 25 in Saudi Arabia. For the second year in a row, the auction will be taking place outside India.
The ten IPL teams have already announced the names of the players that they have retained. They have retained a total of 46 players - 36 Indians and 10 overseas. Only reigning champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals have retained their full quota of six players.
Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad have retained five players each. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru have retained four and three players respectively while Punjab Kings have decided to retained only two uncapped players.
The upcoming IPL auction will be giving all the teams a chance to bolster their squad ahead of the 2025 season. Talking about the IPL 2025 team budget, each team had a purse of INR 120 crore.
According to the rules for purse deduction - a franchise had to pay INR 18 crore for the first retention, INR 14 crore for the second, and INR 11 crore for the third, followed by INR 18 crore and INR 14 crore for the fourth and fifth retentions respectively. On the other hand, the franchises had to pay INR 4 crore to retain an uncapped player.
After the retention, Punjab Kings will enter the auction with the highest remaining purse - INR 110.5 crore. They are the only team to have INR 100 crore or more remaining in the purse. Royal Challengers Bengaluru have the second biggest purse - INR 83 crore, followed by Delhi Capitals (INR 73 crore) and Gujarat Titans (INR 69 crore). Rajasthan Royals are left with the smallest purse - INR 41 crores.
