The Australia women's cricket team represents Australia in international women's cricket. They are also called Southern Stars. They are governed by Cricket Australia (CA). In 2003, Women's Cricket Australia (WCA) and the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) merged to form a single body named Cricket Australia.
The Australia women's cricket team's present captain is Alyssa Healy and head coach is Shelley Nitschke. Australia are one of the most successful and decorated sides in women's cricket. They have won more Cricket World Cups than all the other teams combined.
Their performance in the women's T20 World Cup is equally impressive. Of the eight editions of the tournament so far, Australia have won six. In 2022, they also won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.
The Australian team played the first-ever women's Test against England in 1934. In 1973, Australia played its first ODI against Young England in Birmingham. In 2005, Australia women's cricket team played its first ever T20I against England.
Talking about Australia women's cricket team's major stats, Karen Rolton has scored most Test runs and Betty Wilson has taken most Test wickets for the team. In ODIs, Belinda Clark has scored most runs while Cathryn Fitzpatrick has taken most wickets. In T20Is, Meg Lanning and Megan Schutt have scored most runs and taken most wickets for Australia.
