Maharashtra Cricket Team 2024

The Maharashtra cricket team represents the state of Maharashtra in Indian domestic cricket tournaments. It is one of the three first-class teams based in Maharashtra with Mumbai and Vidarbha being the other two.

The team is governed by the Maharashtra Cricket Association and plays its home games at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Founded in 1934, the Maharashtra cricket team made its first-class debut in the same year.

It was one of the 15 teams that participated in the inaugural edition of Ranji Trophy in 1934-35 season. In its debut first-class game, Maharashtra faced Bombay and suffered a defeat. It has played in every Ranji Trophy season since then. The Maharashtra cricket team has won the Ranji Trophy twice so far and has finished runners-up three times.

It won its first title in 1939-40 season before defending it in the following season. Maharashtra have not won India's premier first-class tournament since then. It last qualified for the Ranji Trophy final in 2014-14 season.

In 2009-10, the team won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and finished runners-up in the same competition in 2018-19 season. In 2022-23 season, Maharashtra also finished runners-up in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
