The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is Pakistan's premier T20 competition that is organized annually by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). It was founded by the PCB in 2015 and its first edition was played in 2016.

While six teams participate in the PSL at present, the first two seasons were played with only five teams. The five teams were - Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi. After the first two seasons, the PSL became a six-team affair with the addition of Multan Sultans. 

Out of the nine seasons played so far, Islamabad United have won the PSL three times, Lahore Qalandars have won it twice while the other four teams have won the tournament once each. Islamabad United also won the inaugural edition in 2016 and are the most successful team in the PSL. On the other hand, Lahore Qalandars are the only team to defend their PSL title.
