Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal hailed the new combination of Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma with the Indian team.
On Sunday, India sweeped New Zealand 3-0 in the T20I series after a 73-run win in the final game.
Rohit Sharma was mature from the start: Kamran Akmal
Rohit Sharma was appointed as the T20I captain after Virat Kohli stepped down from the role at the end of ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
Dravid replaced Ravi Shastri, whose four-year tenure with the Indian team as head coach also ended with the completion of the showpiece event.
Akmal called Rohit Sharma a mature captain and appreciated his new stint with Dravid for playing some new players in the team against the Black Caps.
“India played wonderful cricket under a wonderful captain (Rohit Sharma). The captain was mature from the start, but as a permanent captain, the first series is always a crucial one. He played with fresh players, resting regular ones. It was the first assignment for the head coach (Rahul Dravid) as well. He made an outstanding match-winning combination in the team,” Akmal said on his YouTube channel.
A terrific comeback by Team India: Kamran Akmal
India’s T20I series win comes after their inability to qualify for the semi-final round in the T20 World Cup, where they were defeated by Pakistan and New Zealand.
Akmal said that it was a strong comeback by the Indian team to beat the runners-up of the T20 World Cup.
“Dominant performance and a terrific comeback by Team India. That, too, against a team that has played a World Cup final just recently. And only the best teams play in the finals. And India made a strong comeback against a team like New Zealand. There was a lot of criticism of the Indian team and they have replied accordingly,” Akmal mentioned.
India will be looking forward to the two-mtach Test series against the Black Caps, starting on November 25 (Thursday) at the Greenpark Stadium in Kanpur.
