Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal has praised the Indian team for showcasing a wonderful performance against New Zealand in the ongoing IND vs NZ T20I series despite being short of a few key players. The former Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal also called India’s victory in the first two T20I games fabulous.
The Indian team, led by their new T20I skipper Rohit Sharma, does not have a few crucial senior players Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Ravindra Jadeja in the squad. Rather, the squad consists of many young players like Ishan Kishan, Venkatesh Iyer, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Talking about New Zealand, they do not have skipper Kane Williamson and Devon Convoy in the ongoing T20I series. The BlackCaps are led by Tim Southee.

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Kamran Akmal said that the Indian team is playing wonderfully in the series, and it’s a big achievement to play like this against a World Cup finalists. New Zealand recently finished as runners-up in ICC T20 World Cup 2021, losing the title to Australia.
“It’s a fabulous win, that too with some new players. No other team does that. Because India have a great pool of talent, they are giving them opportunities. They are setting up players for their next South Africa tour and managing the workload pretty well.
“Rohit’s captaincy has been aggressive, just as he bats. Despite resting a few key senior players from the team, India is playing wonderfully. It’s a big achievement to play like this against a World Cup finalists,” Kamran Akmal said.
The 39-year-old veteran cricketer also pointed out that New Zealand need to post a high total against India since the Indian pitches suits batters.
“It looked like New Zealand won’t repeat their mistakes from the first T20I and will bat well to set a good total. It’s extremely crucial to post a high total against India in India because the pitches there suit batters,” Kamran Akmal further said.
India have already sealed the series in their favour after winning the 1st and 2nd T20I. India defeated New Zealand in the 1st T20I by 5 wickets. The hosts later crushed the visitors in the 2nd game by 7 wickets. Now, both the teams will collide in the 3rd T20I, set to be played on November 21 (Sunday) at Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. Later, both the sides will also lock horns in two Tests matches.
