Former Indian skipper Kapil Dev has lashed out at the Delhi Daredevils think tank for dropping Gautam Gambhir. The veteran southpaw had said that it was his own decision to not play in the remaining matches. However, Gautam Gambhir has now revealed that he didn’t interfere in the selection criteria.

Gambhir has now revealed that he never refused to play for Delhi Daredevils. Meanwhile, Kapil Dev was not impressed with the Delhi Daredevils team management when Gambhir revealed the secret.

Gambhir is not treated right by Delhi team management.

Kapil Dev said while talking to ABP news, “I understand that Gambhir must have said that he doesn’t want to be the captain of the side. However, we were thinking that why he is not getting the opportunity to play. We were thinking that it is his decision to not play. But now when Gambhir has revealed, I am feeling really bad”.

Kapil Dev added that Gautam Gambhir is a great player. The World Cup-winning skipper added that Gambhir achievements in the Indian Premier League are well known.

The Haryana Hurricane added, “He is a brilliant player. Gambhir has performed really well in the Indian Premier League. It is really good that he has come up and told this thing to his cricket fans”.

How could Maxwell receive so many opportunities, questions Kapil Dev?

The former captain Dev questioned the place of Glenn Maxwell in the Delhi Daredevils team. Maxwell performance in the IPL was mundane as he scored only 169 runs in the 12 innings he played in this season.

Kapil Dev went on to add, “It feels really bad when you are giving so many opportunities to Glenn Maxwell. However, you are not giving any chances to Gautam Gambhir”.

Questions are raised over future of Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir as both player’s form has dipped. However, Kapil Dev believes that good performance can get these two talismanic batsmen back on track.

Kapil added, “Both Gautam and Yuvraj will have to first tell themselves the truth whether they can continue to play or not. If they think that there is still cricket left in them, then the only thing that can help is good performances”.

Both Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh are in the fag end of their career and their performances have also dipped. However, both these southpaw batsmen will have to come up with extraordinary performances to bounce back into the limelight.
