"Brave and Fearless Opener"- Jos Buttler can be summed up with these words for his hard-hitting batting style in white-ball formats. Known for smacking bowlers all over the park, Jos Buttler is one of the lethal openers in international cricket today.
Buttler is a right-handed batsman who plays for England. He is an opening batter in ODIs and T20Is. In Tests, he plays in the lower-middle order. He also keeps the stumps but is an occasional wicketkeeper.
Jos Buttler won the ICC T20I Cricketer of the Year Award in 2021. He led England to the T20 World Cup trophy in 2021, making England the second team after West Indies to win the title twice.
Early Life
Jos Buttler was born in Somerset City England on September 8, 1990, to John and Patricia Buttler. He has a brother James and a sister Joanne. He married Louise Webber in 2017. The couple has two daughters- Georgia and Margot.
He trained under coach Dennis Breakwell during his entire career. He started his domestic career with Somerset Cricket County Club in 2009.
International Career
After consistent performances in domestic cricket and franchise leagues, Buttler made his international debut in 2011 with a T20I game against India. Next year in 2012, he made his ODI debut against Pakistan. One year later, he also made his Test debut.
Buttler is an active player for England across all three formats. He has played more than 100 ODIs and T20Is. He has also played more than 50 Tests. He was named the skipper of the white-ball formats after Eoin Morgan. He has slammed more than 10,000 runs in international cricket including 14 tons.
IPL Career
The England skipper is also a popular figure in Indian Premier League. In IPL 2022, he won the Orange Cap for smacking most runs in the season. He led Rajasthan Royals to the final, where they lost to Gujarat Titans.
Buttler has 7 IPL centuries to his name to date and follows Virat Kohli (8) on the list. He is still an active member of Rajasthan Royals. He has been part of IPL since the 2016 edition and has been a member of Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. These are the only two teams that Buttler has been associated with over the years.
Franchise League Career
He has also participated in foreign leagues like Big Bash League, SA20, and The Hundred. He is an active member of Paarl Royals in SA20 and Manchester Originals in The Hundred.
