Awesome Captain! This adjective suits Allan Border well as he was the first Australian skipper to drive Australia to the ICC ODI World Cup in 1987. He is regarded as the best captain to ever play for Australia as he sowed the seeds for ICC titles for the side.
Allan Border was a left-handed batsman and a left-arm orthodox spinner. He used to play in the middle order and represented the Australian side from 1978 to 1994. He played over 150 Tests and 250 ODIs for the national side.

Allan Border, nicknamed AB on the field, was born in Cremorne City in Sydney, New South Wales to Robert and Sheila Border. He grew up with his three brothers in his childhood- Johno, Brett, and Barry. He married Jane Hoscox and they have a son named Dene Border.

Allan Border made his domestic debut for New South Wales in 1976 and went on to play for the same side till 1980. He also played for Queensland from 1980 to 1995. He represented the Essex team in English County Cricket and also played one season for Gloucestershire in 1977.
International Career
Allan Border made his debut for Australia in 1978 with a Test match against England and remained a regular member of the side till 1994. During his tenure, he played 156 Tests and 273 ODIs for the side.
