Incredible Batsman and Captain! We can truly attribute these words to Inzamam ul Haq, who can be termed the most successful batsman for Pakistan to date. Inzamam ul Haq was one of the heaviest men to play cricket for Pakistan but also one of the best batters to represent the national side.
Inzamam ul Haq was a right-handed batsman who used to play in the top order. He was also the skipper of Pakistan for a long time and executed the role of coach post his retirement. He represented Pakistan for 17 years.
Family and Personal Life
Inzamam ul Haq was born on March 3, 1970, in Multan City of Punjab in Pakistan. He was born to Intizam ul Haq and grew up with his two brothers Ehteram and Insaram in Multan. He also had a sister. He married Kashifa ul Haq and has a son Ibtasam and a daughter Amina.
Early and Domestic Career
Inzamam made his domestic debut for Multan in 1985, his first break in the domestic circuit. He went on to play for the side till 2003. He also played for United Bank Limited and Faisalabad at the domestic level. He also played for England cricket county Yorkshire.
International Career
The former Pakistan captain made his international debut in 1991 with an ODI game against West Indies. He represented the national time consistently till 2007 with his last Test match against South Africa. During his cricket career, Inzamam played 120 Tests, 378 ODIs, and 1 T20I for Pakistan.
He shattered 8830 runs in 200 Test innings averaging 49+ with 25 centuries and 46 half-centuries including two double tons. He has a triple century to his name (329).
In 350 innings in One Day Internationals, he smashed 11739 runs at 39+ batting average. He hit 10 centuries and 83 half-centuries. He played alone T20I game for Pakistan added 11 runs.
Franchise Career
Unfortunately, Inzamam ul Haq retired just a year ahead of the Indian Premier League in 2008 and could not participate in the first season. However, he played in the 2008 and 2009 editions of the Indian Cricket League.
Post Retirement
Inzamam ul Haq has taken up the coach and mentor roles of the Pakistan team after his retirement. Notably, after the Pakistan Team's poor show in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in India, he resigned from his post and was highly criticized for his work. However, he is still quite an active figure in the Pakistan Cricket Board.
