Junaid Khan is a former Pakistani player with a short but impressive career with the national team. During his short career from 2011 to 2019, he played many ODI games for the Pakistan team. However, he did not represent them much in Tests and T20Is.
Junaid Khan was a left-arm pacer who used to bowl medium pace. He was also quite active in the franchise T20I leagues during and after his career. He was part of the Pakistan team that won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017 by defeating India in the final.
Family and Personal Life
There is not much information about Junaid Khan's family and personal life since he only had a short career in the Pakistan team and did not reveal such information. However, he has one brother and one sister. He married a lady named Khansa Khan.
Early and Domestic Career
Junaid Khan was born on December 24, 1989, in the Matra area of North-West Frontier Province in Pakistan. He made his domestic debut for Abbottabad Falcons in 2008 and played for only one season. He also played county cricket for foreign teams like Lancashire and Middlesex in England.
International Career
Interestingly, Junaid Khan got a chance in the Pakistan team in the ICC ODI World Cup 2011 as a replacement for Sohail Tanvir who had a knee injury. However, he did not play any game in the tournament where Pakistan lost the semi-final to India.
He later made his debut in the same year in April during the West Indies tour. He went on to play 22 Tests, 75 ODIs, and 9 T20Is till 2019 and gave a decent performance across all three formats during his stay in the national team for 9 years.
For instance, Junaid claimed 71 wickets in the longest format at an average of 31.73 and an economy of 2.94. In ODIs, he clinched 3216 runs in 76 games at an economy of 5.36 and an average of 29.24. In his handful of games in T20Is, he got 8 wickets in 9 games at 8.74 economy.
Franchise Career
Junaid Khan played franchise T20 cricket for three leagues- Pakistan Super League, Caribbean Premier League, and Bangladesh Premier League. He represented Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans in PSL. He played for Barbados Tridens in CPL; and Khulna Titans and Rangpur Riders in BPL.
