Spectacular, Stunning, and shining- these words will always display the legacy of Steve Smith's Test career in the future. Steve Smith won the ICC Men's Test Player of the Decade (2011-2020) and is one of the greatest batters to ever play in Tests.

Steve Smith is a right-handed batsman who plays for Australia. He has more than 18000 runs in Tests format across 100-plus Tests. He is also a right-arm spinner and has bowled in more than 100 games across all three formats.

Steve Smith was born in Sydney City, Australia on June 2, 1989, to Peter and Gillan Smith. His mother was of English origin and hence, he moved to England for his cricket training at the age of 17. He has only one sibling- sister Kristie Smith.

The right-handed batsman trained under his childhood coach Trent Woodhill. He was a spin bowler in his school days but switched to a full-time batter at the age of 14-15. His first big break was playing for Australia in Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2024. Since 2008, he played for New South Wales in Domestic cricket.

Steve Smith made his international debut in 2010, with a T20I game against Pakistan. He also made his ODI and Test debut in the same year.

He was part of the Australian team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2010, where he captured 11 wickets to end as the second-highest wicket-taker. Australia ended as runners-up after losing the final to England.

Over the years, the Aussie legend has played more than 100 Tests and 150 ODIs. He is among the few Aussie players to feature in 100 games in Tests and ODIs. As of 2024, Smith has more than 9000 runs in Tests, 5000 runs in ODIs, and 1000 runs in T20Is.

IPL Career

Steve Smith has been a part of the Indian Premier League since the 2010 season, where he was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, he made his debut in IPL 2012 for Pune Warriors India.
