Wanindu Hasaranga is a Sri Lankan cricketer who has represented Sri Lanka in all three formats of the game. He has already retired from Tests but is an integral member of Sri Lanka's limited-overs squad.

Hasaranga also led Sri Lanka in T20Is before stepping down from the post after the 2024 T20 World Cup.

He is predominantly a leg-spinner but is also a handy lower-batsman. Hasaranga is widely regarded as one of the best limited-overs spinners in the world. Before breaking into the senior Sri Lankan team, Hasaranga made his mark in Under-19 cricket.

Although he made a name for himself with bowling at the Under-19 level, he caught the attention with his batting exploits in his first two seasons of senior cricket. On his first-class debut for Ports Authority Cricket Club, Hasaranga scored a quickfire 87. Later he moved to Colombo Cricket Club and scored 586 runs in the 2017 Premier League Tournament.

After doing well in the domestic circuit, Hasaranga finally made his debut for Sri Lanka in international cricket in 2017 during the home ODI series against Zimbabwe. He went on to become only the third player in the history of cricket to take a hat-trick on his ODI debut.

Hasaranga soon became an integral member of the Sri Lankan team and is now one of the most sought-after spinners in the world. He has plied his trade in most of the leagues in the world such as the IPL, Pakistan Super League, Caribbean Premier League, and Major League Cricket.

• First Sri Lankan to take a hat-trick on ODI debut. He achieved the feat against Zimbabwe in Galle. Hasaranga dismissed Malcolm Waller, Donald Tiripano, and Tendai Chatara with the 14th, 15th, and 16th deliveries of his international career.
• Jointly holds the record for taking the most consecutive five-wicket hauls in ODI cricket. He picked up three five-wicket hauls in a row in the 50-over format in 2023.
• He also jointly holds the record for taking most consecutive four-wickets in an innings in ODIs. He picked up three 4-wicket hauls in ODIs.
• Hasaranga holds the record for the highest score in ODIs by a Sri Lankan player while batting at No.8. In 2021, he scored an unbeaten 80 against West Indies.

• He is the fastest Sri Lankan to 100 wickets in T20Is. Overall, he is third in the list of fastest to 100 T20I wickets behind Rashid Khan and Sandip Lamichhane.
• He also holds the record for most T20I wickets by a Sri Lankan bowler in a calendar year. In 2021, he picked up 36 wickets in 20 games.
• Hasaranga jointly holds the record for most Man of the Match awards in T20Is by a Sri Lankan. So far, he has received the award 7 times.
• Holds the record for most Man of the Series awards by a Sri Lankan in T20Is - 4.
