In 4 matches, they have lost all four and are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table. Another defeat could make things more difficult for them to reach the playoffs.

Karachi Kings played their last game against Quetta Gladiators. The bowling unit was guilty of not applying pressure on the opposition batters for a long period of time. They let them stitch big partnerships by picking wickets early on. As a result of that, Quetta Gladiators managed to score 173 runs in the first innings.

U Asif was the pick of the bowlers as he picked 3 wickets for 36 runs in 4 overs. However, other bowlers were guilty of conceding too many runs and not picking any wicket.

In pursuit of the target, Karachi Kings lost Sharjeel Khan and Sahibzada Farhan without scoring a single run. Babar Azam then joined hands with Ian Cockbain and led a great recovery. The duo added 74 runs for the third wicket before Cockbain went back to the hut (31 off 19) in the 10th over of the innings. Babar Azam, however, held firm at one end and switched gears after that wicket.

He played more aggressively but kept losing partners at the other end. Mohammad Nabi (10 off 10) and Aemer Yamin (20 off 15) were guilty of not converting the starts into big scores. Babar Azam played an unbeaten knock of 90 runs in 63 balls but couldn’t take his team home. Karachi Kings, in the end, fell 9 runs short of the target.

On the other hand, Islamabad United are playing top-class cricket at the moment. At the time of writing, they are sitting at number two on the points table with 2 wins in 3 matches. Islamabad United put in a dominant all-round performance in the last game against Quetta Gladiators. The batting unit contributed collectively and, as a result of that, they managed to score 229 runs in the first innings.

Striking at 184.62, Colin Munro smashed 72 runs in 39 balls, while Azam Khan scored 65 in 35 deliveries. In the second innings, Shadab Khan ran through the Gladiators’ batting unit as he picked five wickets for just 28 runs in 4 overs.

His heroic spell helped the team bundle out Quetta Gladiators to 186 runs in the second innings. Hasan Ali and M Wasim Jr. picked two wickets each as well.
