Quetta Gladiators have made a promising start to the 2022 edition of the Pakistan Super League. They exhibited an all-round performance in the last game against Karachi Kings on Saturday. They bundle out the opposition for just 113 runs in the first innings and then chased it down in 15.5 overs. Ahead of the next game against Multan Sultans, here’s a look at our predicted playing XI of Quetta Gladiators.
QUE vs MUL: Quetta Gladiators’ Predicted Playing XI Against Multan Sultans– Pakistan Super League 2022, Match 07
Openers: Ashan Ali and Will Smeed
Quetta Gladiators dished out impressive performances with the bat. Will Smeed and Ahsan Ali have scored the bulk of runs while opening the batting for the team?
The duo stitched a 155-run partnership in the first game and followed it with an 89-run partnership in the next game. Both the batsmen should get the team to a good start if they are to beat a tough team like Multan Sultans on Saturday.
Middle-Order: Ben Duckett, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Iftikhar Ahmed
In-form Ben Duckett is yet to replicate his BBL form in the ongoing PSL tournament. He got out on nought in the first game and was, unfortunately, run out in the next game. Duckett would be keen to play a big knock on Saturday. Sarfaraz Ahmed hit three beautiful boundaries in the 16th over in the last game to register a comfortable win.
Those boundaries would have given him a lot of confidence going ahead in the next game on Saturday. If top-order doesn’t do well, the onus will be on him to get the team off to a great start. Besides, Iftikhar Ahmed should take the fifth position in the batting order.
All-rounder: M Nawaz, S Tanvir, and Faulkner
M Nawaz bowled wicket-to-wicket and gave only 19 runs in the last game. In 2 matches, he has 4 wickets to his name and would be keen to add more to his tally.
Sohail Tanvir too was brilliant in the last game. He found some good amount of swing in the last game in the powerplay and also picked crucial wickets of Sharjeel Khan and Joe Clarke in his second over. He finished with figures of 2 for 29 in 4 overs. Gladiators’ new acquisition, James Faulkner proved a bit expensive in the last game. He conceded 40 runs in 4 overs for 1 wicket.
Bowlers: Ashir Qureshi, M Hasnain, and Naseem Shah
Naseem Shah ran through Karachi’s batting unit in the last game as he picked 5 wickets for 20 runs in 3.3 overs. He would be riding high on confidence and it will be interesting too see if he could replicate that performance against a solid batting unit of Multan Sultans. Mohammad Hasnain is likely to share the fast bowling duties alongside Naseem Shah. The former picked 1 for 25 in 3 overs in the last match.
