England fast bowler Olly Stone has been ruled out of the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to injury. The Multan Sultans franchise will request a replacement player to fill Olly Stone’s spot for the upcoming matches in the Pakistan T20 tournament.

Earlier, Olly Stone replaced Reece Topley in the Sultan’s squad after Topley withdrew from the event. However, Stone has now also been ruled out for the entire season due to his own injury, leaving the team without both Topley and Stone for the remainder of the PSL.

Olly Stone suffered an injury during his first match of PSL 9 against Islamabad United on February 20. Stone was forced to leave the field without completing his fourth over of the game. He required assistance from team physios before Khushdil Shah finished the over.

The Multan Sultans have officially announced Olly Stone’s exclusion from their squad due to a groin injury, prompting them to seek a replacement player. The franchise plans to submit the necessary paperwork to secure a replacement for Stone in the near future.

Multan Sultans Lead PSL 2024 Points Table

The Multan Sultans, who stand at the top of the table, have secured three victories in as many matches. Under the captaincy of Mohammad Rizwan, they convincingly defeated the Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, and the defending champions, Lahore Qalandars.

During their recent match, Mohammad Rizwan’s team secured a five-wicket victory over the team led by Shaheen Afridi. Mohammad Rizwan was named the Player of the Match for his exceptional batting performance, scoring 82 runs during the run chase in Multan.

The Sultans found themselves in a tight spot until Iftikhar Ahmed’s explosive batting turned the tide. Iftikhar Ahmed scored 24 runs off Zaman Khan’s final over while chasing a target of 167 runs. Iftikhar guided his team to victory with six balls to spare in the run chase.

The Multan Sultans aim to uphold their dominant performance against a faltering Peshawar Zalmi team. Despite being led by star Pakistani batter Babar Azam, Peshawar Zalmi has struggled and is yet to win in the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League.
