Multan Sultans’ (MS) Mohammad Ali verbally abused Lahore Qalandars (LHQ) during the seventh match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Mohammad Ali delivered impressive bowling during the Multan Sultans’ 5-wicket victory in the recent match in the PSL 2024.

Multan Sultans maintained their winning streak, beating Lahore Qalandars on Wednesday. Mohammad Rizwan earned the player of the match title for his exceptional performance with the bat. This victory further solidifies the Multan Sultans’ top spot in the table.

The incident took place on the first ball of the fourth over in Qalandars’ innings. Rassie van der Dussen executed a fantastic scoop shot off Mohammad Ali for a six. After the shot, Mohammad Ali exchanged a few words with the batter, who responded with a smile.

Opting to bat first, the Lahore Qalandars encountered an early setback as Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed after scoring only 2 runs off 8 balls. Rassie van der Dussen added a significant 94-run partnership off 66 balls alongside opener Fakhar Zaman for the second wicket.

Young leg spinner Usama Mir ended the partnership by dismissing Rassie van der Dussen, who scored a brisk 54 off 37 balls, featuring four boundaries and two sixes. Fakhar Zaman scored 41 runs off 36 deliveries with the help of two boundaries and two sixes.

Sikandar Raza contributed a quick 23 off 16 balls with four boundaries before being dismissed by Mohammad Ali. Lahore Qalandars managed to score 166-5 in 20 overs. Ali was the pick of the bowlers for the Sultans, taking two wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs.

Usama Mir and Abbas Afridi claimed a wicket each, while young pacer Shahnawaz Dahani proved slightly expensive, conceding 24 runs in his two overs without taking a wicket. Iftikhar Ahmed (0-26) and David Willey (0-27) also ended their spells without taking a wicket.

Mohammad Rizwan Plays Match-Winning Knock During Run Chase

In pursuit of 167 runs, the Multan Sultans initially stumbled with early dismissals of Dawid Malan (0), Reeza Hendricks (9), and Yasir Khan (8). However, skipper Mohammad Rizwan rescued the team, smashing 82 runs off 59 balls, featuring nine boundaries and three sixes.

Rizwan formed a strong partnership with David Willey, adding 75 runs off 51 deliveries. The partnership was broken by Zaman Khan when he dismissed Rizwan. Willey scored 25 runs off 23 balls before being dismissed by left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Iftikhar Ahmed guided the Multan Sultans to victory with his trademark aggressive batting. The home team secured the win with six balls remaining as Iftikhar smashed three boundaries and two sixes off Zaman Khan’s bowling in the penultimate over of the match.

Shaheen Shah Afridi emerged as the standout bowler for his team, claiming two wickets with an impressive economy rate of 6.25. Meanwhile, Zaman Khan also secured two wickets but conceded 52 runs in his four overs.
