Pakistan middle-order batter Asif Ali made a spectacular fielding effort during the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Asif Ali completed a well-executed catch at the boundary ropes during the match between Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans.
Peshawar Zalmi clinched a narrow four-run victory against Multan Sultans in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, March 5. The team, led by Babar Azam, successfully defended a total of 204 runs in the recent match. Babar was named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his batting heroics.

The incident occurred during the 12th over of Multan Sultan’s run-chase. Aamer Jamal bowled a short-length delivery, and Dawid Malan attempted a pull shot that lacked the necessary elevation. The ball went towards square leg, where Asif Ali was positioned.
Asif Ali leaped at the boundary ropes to secure the stunning catch, dismissing Malan, who scored 19 runs off 19 balls. The fielder completed the catch before gracefully landing inside the ropes, earning admiration from fans and teammates, including Babar Azam.

Babar Azam-led Side Moves To Third Place In Points Table
Peshawar Zalmi showcased a commanding batting performance after opting to bat first against the Multan Sultans. Babar Azam led the charge with 64 runs off 40 balls, supported by Saim Ayub’s explosive 46 balls off 22 balls, featuring five sixes and three boundaries.
Babar Azam and Saim Ayub added a formidable partnership of 84 runs in just 36 balls that set a strong foundation. Haseebullah Khan (31 off 20) and Rovman Powell (23* off 15) added quick runs in the final overs to help the team reach a total of 204/5 in 20 overs.
Leg spinner Usama Mir stood out as the standout performer among the Multan Sultans’ bowlers, claiming three wickets for 32 runs. England pacer Chris Jordan also made a notable contribution, securing two wickets for 33 runs in his four-over quota.
In response, the Multan Sultans faced a challenging start to their innings, losing Mohammad Rizwan early on after his brisk 32 off 24 deliveries. Despite Iftikhar Ahmed’s explosive 60 off 27 balls and Chris Jordan’s quickfire 30 off 12, Multan fell short of their target.
Young pacer Aamer Jamal emerged as the standout bowler for Peshawar Zalmi, claiming two crucial wickets for 36 runs in his four overs. Naveen ul Haq and Mehran Mumtaz claimed one wicket each while defending the target.
Despite the loss, the Multan Sultans lead the points table with six victories in eight matches, boasting a net run rate of +0.967. Peshawar Zalmi’s recent win places them third in the standings, securing their fourth victory of the season with an NRR of -0.625.
