The Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan took an absolutely sensational catch to dismiss the Peshawar Zalmi skipper Babar Azam in the Eliminator 2 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 at the National Stadium, Karachi, on Saturday, March 16.
Babar Azam has been in terrific form with the bat in the ongoing edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). However, he failed to deliver on two most crucial occasions for his team Peshawar Zalmi.
In the Qualifier against Multan Sultans, the Peshawar Zalmi captain batted very slow and he was able to score just 46 runs off 42 balls. His innings consisted of just 5 fours and he also put his batters under pressure with his poor knock. Many expected him to better his performance in the Eliminator 2, but the Peshawar Zalmi captain once again failed as he was back in the hut after scoring 25 runs off 22 balls, with 2 fours and 1 six.
He was dismissed by the premier pacer Nassem Shah in the 8th over of the first innings. On the 4th ball of the over, Naseem Shah bowled a length delivery around off-stump and Babar Azam tried to smash it over mid-off. However, Shadab Khan was stationed there and he turned into a Superman to complete the catch. He timed his jump to perfection and made sure he ended Babar Azam’s innings.

Talking about Eliminator 2, Islamabad United won the toss and opted to field first in the match. Speaking at the toss, Shadab Khan said that their strength is bowling and they wanted to rely on it. He said:
“We want to rely on our strength and want to bowl first. Hopefully it will be a good game. We need to do the basics right and execute plans to put opposition under pressure. I think there will be low bounce on this pitch and will help fast bowlers, it will reverse. We’re going with the same team”
Meanwhile, Babar said at the toss that he has told his teammates to give it all in the do-or-die encounter against Islamabad United. He elaborated:
