Rajasthan Royals Cricket Team (2025)

Rajasthan Royals are one of the 10 teams participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL). They are based in Jaipur and play their home games at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in the same city. They also play their home games at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

They were one of the eight teams that were founded before the inaugural season of the IPL in 2008 and are owned by Manoj Badale and The Royals Sports Group. Rajasthan Royals created history by winning the inaugural season in 2008 under the captaincy of the legendary Shane Warne despite being written off by the majority.

They have not won the title since 2008. In 2022, they qualified for the final under Sanju Samson's captaincy but suffered a loss against Gujarat Titans. Rajasthan Royals also served a two-year suspension for their involvement in the 2013 betting scandal and did not play in the IPL in 2016 and 2017. Sanju Samson is the captain of the team while Rahul Dravid is the head coach.

Rajasthan Royals - Season-wise Performance in IPL:

Rajasthan Royals' journey in the IPL began on a historic note. They were given the underdog tag by the fans and the media because of the lack of big names in the squad. However, the Shane Warne-led side went on to defy the odds and beat Chennai Super Kings in the final to win the title.

However, the success in the inaugural season did not transform into a successful phase as the Royals struggled in the following years. From 2009 to 2012, they failed to progress ahead of the league stage. In 2013, the Royals qualified for the playoffs but could not make it to the final.

In 2014, they bowed out at the league stage before qualifying for the playoffs again in 2015. The Royals did not play the 2016 and 2017 seasons due to suspension before making it to the playoffs in their comeback season in 2018.

It was followed by three league stage exits in a row. In 2022, they finally made it to the final under Sanju Samson's captaincy but could not win the title-decider. The Royals exited IPL 2023 at the league stage before making it to the playoffs in 2024.
