Rohit Sharma is an Indian cricketer who plays for Team India in international cricket and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In domestic cricket, he represents Mumbai.

He is also the captain of the Indian team in Tests and ODIs at present. He was the T20I captain too before retiring from the format in June 2024.

Rohit became India's white-ball captain in 2021 and took charge of the Test team in early 2022.

Under his captaincy, India qualified for the final of the ODI World Cup and the Worlds Test Championship in 2023 in addition to winning the Asia Cup. In 2024, Rohit led India to a thumping 4-1 series win over England in Tests at home.

The year only became better for him and the Indian team as the Men in Blue won the T20 World Cup after a gap of 17 years. It was a historic event as India became the first-ever team to win the T20 World Cup without losing a single game in the competition.

Before shining as a captain in international cricket, Rohit proved his captaincy acumen in the IPL. After starting his journey with Deccan Chargers in 2008, he was bought by Mumbai Indians in 2011.

Two years later, Mumbai Indians made him their captain and it turned out to be a masterstroke.

In his first season as captain, Rohit guided Mumbai Indians to their first-ever IPL title and soon established himself as one of the most decorated IPL captains. From 2013 to 2020, he led Mumbai Indians to a record five IPL titles.

Captaincy aside, Rohit's performance as a batsman has been equally impressive. He is one of India's most decorated openers of all time.

In ODIs, he has scored more than 10000 runs with the help of 31 centuries and 57 half-centuries while in T20Is, he has scored more than 3500 runs with the help of a record five centuries and 32 half-centuries. In Tests, he has scored over 4000 runs including 12 centuries and 17 fifties.

The stunning success on the field has also helped Rohit become one of the highest-paid cricketers in the world. Very few cricketers have earned as much as him in recent years.
