IND vs SA: BCCI Reveals What Injury Ruled Out Jasprit Bumrah From 1st T20I Against South Africa

Team India fans got a huge shock when it was revealed at the toss that pacer Jasprit Bumrah will not be playing in the first T20I between India and South Africa which got underway in Trivandrum on September 28, 2022.

Jasprit Bumrah is the key member of the Indian team and the leader of the pace attack. He recently missed the limited overs tour of West Indies and then the Asia Cup 2022 after he complained of back issues post the England tour, where he captained the Indian side in the rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston.

Bumrah spent a lot of time in rehab in the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and made his comeback in the Australia T20I series recently. He sat out the first T20I, which India lost, but came back into the XI for the second match in which he picked 1/23. He went wicketless in the third match giving away 50 runs in his 4 overs as India won the match and the series.

Jasprit Bumrah Suffers From Back Pain, To Miss First T20I Against South Africa: BCCI

He was named in the squad for the three-match T20I series against South Africa. The first match got underway in Trivandrum on September 28, 2022. At the toss, which Rohit Sharma won and chose to field first, he revealed that Jasprit Bumrah was not playing this match as he had suffered some niggle.

Now, the BCCI has revealed the real reason for Jasprit Bumrah’s absence from this match, and it was revealed that the right-arm pacer has suffered back issues once more, and as a precaution, he was not included in the XI for the first T20I.

Jasprit Bumrah complained of back pain in during India’s practice session on Tuesday. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He is ruled out of the first T20I,” a BCCI said in a tweet.

Instead of Bumrah, Deepak Chahar was included in the XI, along with Arshdeep Singh and Rishabh Pant, who replaced Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya respectively who have been rested from this series.
