Team India fans got a huge shock when it was revealed at the toss that pacer Jasprit Bumrah will not be playing in the first T20I between India and South Africa which got underway in Trivandrum on September 28, 2022.

Jasprit Bumrah is the key member of the Indian team and the leader of the pace attack. He recently missed the limited overs tour of West Indies and then the Asia Cup 2022 after he complained of back issues post the England tour, where he captained the Indian side in the rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston.

Bumrah spent a lot of time in rehab in the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and made his comeback in the Australia T20I series recently. He sat out the first T20I, which India lost, but came back into the XI for the second match in which he picked 1/23. He went wicketless in the third match giving away 50 runs in his 4 overs as India won the match and the series.
