Rishabh Pant was dropped from playing XI of the Indian Cricket Team for the 3rd T20I match. The dashing wicket-keeper batter’s place in the team is by no means assured as the management has shown faith in Dinesh Karthik; who has been quite lethal. It looks like the left-handed batter would have to warm the benches as the team has no intention of playing with 7 batters.

The Men in Blue would be aware of the fact that the team doesn’t have any left-handed batter in the middle order. Rahul Dravid had said that the team’s selection depends on the conditions. It seems that the management is going to use Rishabh Pant as a secret weapon.

R Sridhar on Rishabh Pant

Former Indian fielding coach R Sridhar was having an interaction with cricket.com and was asked about Rishabh Pant. “There is a little bit of Mahi in him. Obviously, when you grow up idolizing somebody, they tend to become a part of you. You can see a bit of Mahi in Rishabh. And rightly so, because he grew up idolizing the great man,” said R Sridhar

“He comes across as very friendly, very jovial. He loves a laugh off the field. He is quite detached from everything else when he is off the field and is very relaxed; someone who likes to have fun. He loves his other sports. A wonderful bloke,” he said.

Critical Series for India

Indian Cricket Team would be flying high after defeating Australia by 2-1 in a 3-match series. The Men in Blue have rediscovered their mojo at the perfect time. The management would be quite delighted as the team has shown signs of tackling situations quite easily.

South Africa won’t be that powerful team as compared to Australia but they have got players who can perturb the Indian cricket team. Rahul Dravid & Rohit Sharma would be hoping that they get a bouncy & grassy pitch as playing in flat decks won’t do that much good for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
