KL Rahul smashed a half-century in the 1st T20I match against South Africa. This time KL Rahul was very much defensive in his approach as he scored 51 runs in 56 balls. The right-handed batter struck 2 fours and 6 sixes. The fans were surprised to see such sort of mindset as KL Rahul is known for his aggressive style of Cricket.

The pitch was very much tough for batting as there was grass on it for bowlers. Kagiso Rabada & Wayne Parnell were bowling their hear out. The visitors would be dejected as India won the match quite comprehensively by 8 wickets with more than 3 overs left.

Aakash Chopra on KL Rahul

Former India Cricketer Aakash Chopra was quite vocal about KL Rahul on his Youtube channel. “People are just blasting Rahul for his knock, I can’t understand why. If you are chasing only 107, and the conditions are difficult, why will the batter look to hit? It is okay to score ugly runs as well, it takes courage and guts.” said Aakash Chopra

“Had he decided to start striking the ball and got out instead of settling, then that would have been irresponsible. He batted really well, in my opinion: respected the conditions and the situation and played accordingly. So please cut him some slack.” added the former India batsman.

Great Batting Display by KL Rahul

As mentioned by Aakash Chopra that the conditions were tough; whacking the ball was not a feasible option. India had lost two key batters in the form of Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli. A couple more wickets would have meant that India is in deep trouble.

The right-handed batter has shown good temperament as South African bowlers were tempting him to go bang bang but he was playing out them. It was a good test for KL Rahul where this time he didn’t throw his wicket under pressure. Such sort of situation is bound to occur in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 where pitches would be grassy & bouncy.
