Former wicketkeeper-batsman Morne van Wyk believes India is the favorite coming into the final T20I against South Africa, and praised Indian batsmen for their shot-making making in the previous two matches.
Between 2003 and 2015, Van Wyk played 17 ODIs and 8 T20Is for South Africa, pointing out that the SA hitters have underperformed on a wicket with varying bounce.
After defeating in New Delhi and Cuttack, the Rishabh Pant-led team avoided the urge to make adjustments to the twelve and won by 47 runs and 82 runs in Visakhapatnam and Rajkot, correspondingly, with improved implementation of actions. The decider will be contested on Sunday at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where the Men in Blue have claimed only two of their five T20Is.
South Africa, who jumped out to a 2-0 series lead, would be concerned about being thoroughly drubbed in the final two games before the Bengaluru finale. While the Proteas would like to win that game in India, the Indians have shown enough capacity in their resiliency to take the series to a final, and who thinks, they could perhaps win it. The stage is set for an intriguing conclusion to a thrilling series between India and South Africa.
‘The Pitches have become slower as the series has progressed’: Morne van Wyk
Morne van Wyk praised Indian batsmen for their shot-making making in the previous two matches.
“India is unquestionably the favorite. In terms of adaptation, the South African team has some doubts. Since the third match, they have been unable to develop a winning formula and have lost steam.
“The pitches have gotten slower as the series has proceeded, but the Indian batsmen deserve full credit for their shot selection in the last two games,” Morne van Wyk revealed to Sportskeeda.
On Sunday, June 19, India and South Africa will square off in the fifth and final T20I in Bengaluru.
