IND vs SA: Umran Malik Starts With Great Net Session Ahead Of T20I Series

Team India is gearing up for the forthcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa in the capital city New Delhi.
The Indian selectors have named an 18-member squad, including the top-performers in IPL 2022, for the five T20 Internationals against the Proteas.
KL Rahul to lead India in South Africa T20Is
Senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami have been rested for the South Africa T20Is. Opening batter KL Rahul will lead the 18-player squad in what would be his debut captaincy in the shortest format for India.
Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who led Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022, will be Rahul’s deputy for the bilateral series at home.
Umran Malik set to make his international debut for India
Youngsters like Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh stand a chance to make their international debut for India. On the other hand, veteran players like Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya make their way back to the Indian side.
Team India touched the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Monday to begin their first training session for the T20I series.
According to a Times of India report, Umran, who terrorised batters with raw pace, was hitting the nets with the same energy. Umran was up against Rahul and passed his bat on numerous occasions.
Umran worked with pace bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and head coach Rahul Dravid observed the Jammu bowler while noting his remarks.
In IPL 2022, Umran picked 22 wickets in 14 games at an average of 20.18 with best figures of 5/25 against eventual champions Gujarat Titans.
Umran also broke Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s record of becoming the youngest bowler to collect 20 wickets in an IPL season.
Umran will be the key to India’s bowling plans in Bumrah’s absence and might come as a surprise package for Temba Bavuma and his men.
The first of the five T20I matches will start on Friday (June 9) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
