Former Indian cricketer Saba Karim reckoned that the duo of Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant possess similar personalities and are usually calm on the field, as witnessed during the Sri Lanka Test series.

While Rohit also leads the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, Pant is currently the skipper of Delhi Capitals. With the IPL season coming up, they will be closely watched, particularly the Pant who is looked at as the future captain of India.

Both Pant and Rohit have similar abilities on and off the field, they are very relaxed. Because of this, even the players feel a lot more relaxed and that is currently the atmosphere in this Indian team. When the captain is relaxed, it gives the players a lot more confidence.

Former Delhi cricketer Rajkumar Sharma also asserted that Pant would be the right choice for leadership in the future as he possesses all the necessary qualities and is also a regular for India in all three formats.

Rishabh Pant looks like the only viable option to take the captaincy of the Indian team. He needs to be groomed because he has great leadership qualities and his place in the team is fixed across formats,” Rajkumar reckoned.

Pant won the Player of the Series award in the 2-match Test series against Sri Lanka where he scored 185 runs including two half-centuries. He also affected eight dismissals behind the stumps – 5 catches and 3 stumpings.
