Veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha has found support from all quarters after being threatened by a journalist to whom he denied giving him an interview. He shared a screenshot on his Twitter handle to prove the same as well.

Gautam Gambhir is the latest former cricketer to come out in support of Wriddhiman Saha. Previously, the likes of Harbhajan Singh, Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag, Pragyan Ojha all came out in his support while blasting the media person for his actions.

Taking to Twitter, Gautam Gambhir wrote  “It is disappointing to see all this being discussed on a public platform. I’m sure there are better ways to ask for an interview! I hope better sense prevails in future.”

Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri has also supported Saha saying that it was shocking that a cricketer is threatened blatantly by a journalist and asked BCCI President Sourav Ganguly to take strict action soon.

“Shocking a player being threatened by a journo. Blatant position abuse. Something that’s happening too frequently with #TeamIndia. Time for the BCCI PREZ to dive in. Find out who the person is in the interest of every cricketer. This is serious coming from ultimate team man WS”.

Saha opted out of the Bengal Ranji Trophy team after being ignored by the selectors for the Sri Lanka Test series at home. The selectors favoured KS Bharat who managed to impress the selectors while keeping for Saha who survived an injury. However, despite that injury, he scored a defiant 61 in the Kanpur Test after which his snub from the Indian team was not taken light-heartedly by the veteran keeper.

“After scoring 61 against New Zealand at Kanpur, Dadi (Ganguly) congratulated me over WhatsApp and mentioned, ‘As long as I’m here (helming the BCCI), you would be in the team’. Such a message from the BCCI president really boosted my confidence. What I’m struggling to understand is that how things have changed so fast ” Wriddhiman Saha told The Sunday Express questioning the selectors’ decision on his snub from India’s Test squad.
