For those of you who don’t know, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has revised the schedule of the upcoming Sri Lanka tour of India. The tour will begin with three T20 internationals, followed by Test matches. India and Sri Lanka will take on each other in the first T20I in Lucknow on 24^th February 2022, while the second and third matches will be played on 26^th and 27^th February in Dharamsala.

Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the Indian Cricket Team in the T20 series. He has made an outstanding start to his captaincy. Under his leadership, India registered a 3-0 series whitewash against New Zealand and are currently leading 1-0 in the three-match T20 series against West Indies. It will be interesting to see how he fares as captain in the upcoming T20 series against Sri Lanka.

3. MS Dhoni: 129 runs in 10 T20 internationals

The most successful Indian captain in the history of white-ball cricket, MS Dhoni finds himself at third position in the list. He led India in all the T20 matches against Sri Lanka between 2009 and 2016. He played 10 matches as Indian captain and managed to score 129 runs, which is the third-most number of runs by an Indian captain against Sri Lanka.

Overall, he has led India to the most number of wins in the shortest format of the game. In 72 T20 internationals, MS Dhoni has 41 wins to his name with a win percentage of close to 60.

2. Virat Kohli: 138 runs in 4 T20 internationals

Virat Kohli is currently enduring a torrid run in white-ball cricket. He hasn’t scored an international hundred for more than 2 years now. He is no longer India’s captain in any format of the game and is currently in lots of pressure to score runs. The fans would hope that he finds his form soon and bounce back strongly.

Virat Kohli played 4 T20 internationals as Indian captain against Sri Lanka. India played against Sri Lanka in 5 different series during his Virat Kohli’s stint as T20 captain. However, Virat Kohli made himself available in two of those series. He, overall, led India in 4 T20 internationals, of which one game got abandoned. He still has managed to score 138 runs against Sri Lanka as the Indian captain in T20 internationals, which includes one hundred as well.

1. Rohit Sharma: 173 runs in 5 T20 internationals

After a dismal outing in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Rohit Sharma was appointed as India’s new full captain in white-ball cricket. He has made an outstanding start to his captaincy career, having registered a 3-0 whitewash against New Zealand in the T20 series and against West Indies in the ODI series. Prior to being appointed as full-time captain, Rohit Sharma also led India in a few series in the absence of Virat Kohli.

He was the captain of the Indian Cricket Team during Sri Lanka’s tour of India in 2017 and the Nidahas Trophy in 2018. Overall, he led India in 5 T20 internationals against Sri Lanka and managed to score 173 runs- the most by any Indian Captain against Sri Lanka.
