Shreyas Iyer’s dance abilities have been showcased not just on social media but also on the field of play, according to Aakash Chopra.
In the Bengaluru Test against Sri Lanka, Iyer scored 92 and 67 runs in the two innings. For his daring batting, he was dutifully named Player of the Match.
Team India’s star performers in the Test series against Sri Lanka were chosen by Aakash Chopra. In regards to Shreyas Iyer, he said:
“His feet danced for not only the reels but also with the pitch because of confidence he (Shreyas) exuded. Even though the fact that he does not play the sweep, he gets to run on a turning pitch. While remaining in his stance, he hits sixes and plays strokes that grab your attention. He played with such domination that it was truly admirable.”
For him, it was a natural development from the T20s. After the match, I actually questioned him whether we should enter the Sri Lankan team in the IPL because you hit them so hard, so why not bring them along and play them as well?”
Shreyas Iyer had a fantastic run against the Sri Lankan visitors. In the T20Is, he was named Player of the Series. He dominated the Sri Lankan attack in the pink-ball Test, after not making a significant contribution in the Mohali Test.
Aakash Chopra Says, Shreyas Iyer was indeed a complete Player:
Aakash Chopra praised Iyer for rebounding back so well after a series of disappointments. He elaborated:
“He was a complete genius. After he was injured, the form was also going fifty-fifty. Then you lost your captaincy, weren’t scoring nearly as many runs, and didn’t make the World Cup team, but once the story changes, this boy doesn’t take the label of stopping.”
“I believe the 92-run first-inning hit and the half-century in the second, both on a terrible pitch, were worth their weight in gold. He was batting at No. 6, not No. 5, and I believe we needed him in South Africa since you wanted anyone with form, and the middle order didn’t have much of it.”
Shreyas Iyer is going to play in the IPL after a fantastic series against Sri Lanka. He will be the captain of Kolkata knight riders, his second IPL franchise, in 2022. On March 26, KKR will begin its campaign against CSK.
