IND vs SL: Four Miscreants Who Slipped Past Security At Chinnaswamy Stadium Arrested
During the ongoing second Test in Bengaluru between India and Sri Lanka, four trespassers breached the security and entered the ground. The incident occurred during the medical break for the Sri Lankan spinner, Praveen Jayawickrama, on Day 2.
The miscreants had moved in during Rishabh Pant’s rampaging knock but were arrested soon after and taken away from the stadium. Cases were registered against two juveniles and two adults at Cubbon Park PS vide under the section of Cr. No 24/22 u/s 447, 269, 271 Indian Penal Code and sec 5(1) Epidemic Diseases Act.
Notably, there was another breach during Sri Lanka’s innings where two more fans managed to run in and also take pictures with the 33-year-old Indian batter and local favourite, Virat Kohli.
“The place Kohli stood on the crease is a hard place to bat on” – Dinesh Karthik
Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik expressed surprise at where Kohli was taking guard during the second Test. The right-hander was done in on both occasions due to lack of bounce and was caught plumb in front of the wicket.
Although it can be attributed to the poor luck that Kohli has been having for a while, Karthik thinks he has made it tougher for himself by choosing to stand in an unusual place.
“Kohli over the years has consistently stood at middle or between middle and leg and that allows him to play with softer hands. And this mindset has come obviously because players who do not want to get lbw do that. And he wants to avoid that.”
“Interestingly, in both the innings, he got out lbw. Yes, the ball kept a little low in the first innings but in the second innings, I guess it was a touch and was a kind of delivery you play on it. The place Kohli stood on the crease is a hard place to bat on especially on these kinds of tracks,” Karthik told Cricbuzz.
