After missing the limited-overs series against West Indies, Jasprit Bumrah is back as the vice-captain of the Indian Test team for the Sri Lank Test series. The BCCI announced the Test and T20I squads for the home series against the Lankans. Bumrah is back in both the squads after being given a break from the series against the Windies at home.
Rohit Sharma was named the new Indian Test captain for the Lanka Test series. The selection committee announced Jasprit Bumrah as the vice-captain in Tests with KL Rahul not a part of the Indian Test squad. Like Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja has also made a comeback in both squads after recovering from his injury.
Meanwhile, former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, Parthiv Patel has congratulated the Indian pacer on being elevated as the test vice-captain. He shared a post on Twitter looking back at how quickly has Bumrah risen through the ranks in international cricket.
” Little did I know that a young boy with an unorthodox action who was making Ranji debut under me will be elevated to Test vice-captaincy in just a few years time! Bumrah’s progress is amazing,” wrote Parthiv on his Twitter handle.
