Former India keeper Parthiv Patel has lauded India’s Virat Kohli ahead of his milestone 100th Test match, saying that it is a huge achievement for a player to appear in 100 Test matches and now his name will be taken alongside other great Indians who have achieved the same milestone.
When India clashes with Sri Lanka in the first match of the two-Test series at the IS Bindra Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium in Mohali, Chandigarh, Virat Kohli will be stepping onto the field to play his 100th Test match for India.
Kohli had made his Test debut for India in 2011 against the West Indies and thus far in 99 Tests, has 7962 runs at an average of 50.39. He has made 27 centuries and 28 half-centuries with the highest score being 254*. He also has 100 catches in Tests and has hit 24 sixes and 896 fours in the format.

His Number Speaks For Him Itself: Parthiv Patel On Virat Kohli
Despite earlier not allowing crowd in for the milestone match for Virat Kohli in Mohali, BCCI has relented and allowed fans in the stadium, as per government directives, to watch Kohli become the 13th Indian to feature in 100 Test matches.
Meanwhile, former Indian batter Parthiv Patel in a conversation with Cricbuzz applauded Kohli’s effort for achieving this milestone.

“His number speaks for him itself. The batter averages 50 in Test cricket and has taken Indian Test cricket at new heights during his captaincy tenure. I have played under Virat’s captaincy and the attitude he brought in the Test side is remarkable. Every match is important for Kohli even if we are trailing behind or have already won the series, we have to play every match with the same intensity,” said Parthiv.
“Playing 100 Test match is a big achievement for any player. Even in Indian cricket, very few have achieved this landmark. We will now take Virat’s name alongside with some Indian greats including Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, and Sachin Tendulkar who have achieved this landmark,” Parthiv added.
Talking about his limited-overs career, Kohli has played a total of 357 matches including both ODIs and T20Is scoring a total of 15,607 runs in the process.
