IND vs SL: Watch - Indian Players Come Up With A Special Gesture After Suranga Lakmal Walks Back To The Dugout For The Final Time

Sri Lankan bowler Suranga Lakmal was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah for the final time in his Test career on Day 3 of the second Test against India at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

He had announced his retirement prior to the start of the series and the Lankan players had also given a guard of honor after the conclusion of India’s second innings.

This time around, it was the Indian players who showed a nice gesture and the mutual respect they share with their opponents. As Lakmal was walking back, the Indians hogged around him and congratulated him on a successful career for the Island Nation.

It was Bumrah himself who started it off, running towards Lakmal as soon he bowled him. Lakmal was then given warm hugs at the boundary line by his teammates to signal an end to a wonderful journey.

Watch the Indian players and Suranga Lakmal share wholesome moments here:

Lakmal may have had a disappointing outing overall considering that his team was defeated by 238 runs in the day-night Test. After batting first, India stacked up 252 on the board before skittling out their opponents for 109.

The lead was already massive and the home side piled on further to set a daunting target of 447 on the board. It was always a steep hill to climb for the Lankans, who were carried to a respectable total by Dimuth Karunaratne’s magnificent century.
