3. No T20I Experience

Shubman Gill might have shown brilliant form while batting as an opener but has no T20I experience in his kitty. Gill has played 15 ODIs and 13 Tests for India so far.

However, he has not played a single T20I game. Hence, he lacks any experience in the shortest format. Hence, he is not a perfect choice of an opener for the IND vs SL T20I series.

2. Lacks Good Batting Strike Rate

Shubam Gill has not played any T20I game so far. He has batted as an opener in ODIs and Tests and played good knocks. However, one thing that differs in T20Is is the batting strike rate. In T20Is, batsmen need to have a better strike rate since there are only 20 overs.

Gill has not played in T20I so far so he has not felt pressure on his batting strike while playing for India. In IPL 2022, he batted at a strike rate of 132+. In ODIs so far, he owns a strike rate of 99.13. Hence, Gill lacks a good batting strike rate and this might affect his performance in the IND vs SL T20I series.

1. No Experience Against Sri Lanka

Shubman Gill has no experience against Sri Lanka. So far, he has played for teams like Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, and Zimbabwe. However, he never faced Sri Lanka in any ODI or Test match.

Hence, he might face issues against the Sri Lanka bowling attack and especially their spinners. Hence, some other batter with good experience against Sri Lanka would have been a good choice for openers.
