3. Poor Batting Strength

Washington Sundar has done a good job with the ball in T20Is so far. However, the same is not true for his batting. Across 32 T20I games so far since his debut in 2017, Sundar has only batted in 12 innings.

Out of those, he remained unbeaten in 4 innings. His top score is unbeaten 14 runs. This means that Sundar has never scored more than 14 runs in any of the 12 T20Is he batted. Hence, it implies that the all-rounder lacks batting strength.

2. Less T20I Games in 2022

In 2022, Washington Sundar played just 1 T20I game which was a match against New Zealand in November 2022. Due to his poor show in the match, he was also dropped in the other two matches.

Hence, Sundar has only played 1 T20I game in 2022. Hence, he has not played a lot of T20I cricket in recent times. Hence, he would not be a good option in the IND vs SL T20I series.

1. Good Options For All-Rounders

Washington Sundar is an all-rounder. However, if we take a look, India has some better options for all-rounders in T20Is like Axar Patel, Deepak Hooda, and Hardik Pandya. All these three all-rounders have played more T20I games than Sundar in 2022 and also own more experience.

Hence, it is also expected that Sundar might have to warm the bench in all three T20I games. Hence, India already has good options for all-rounders in the squad and Washington Sundar could have been rested in the IND vs SL T20I series.
