Mr. 360! These words describe AB de Villiers more than his name as he was known for smacking runs all over the ground. AB de Villiers is a former South Africa batsman who was known for his quick-fire and hard-hitting batting style.

AB de Villiers is a right-handed batsman who was  wicketkeeper-batter. He also led the South Africa team for a few years and was quite popular with the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise. Sadly, he could not win any ICC title or IPL title with both teams throughout his career.

      Family and Personal Life

AB de Villiers was born on February 17, 1984, in Pretoria, South Africa to Abraham and Millie Villiers. He grew up in Pretoria with his only brother Jan de Villiers. He married Danille de Villiers in 2013; a social worker based in South Africa. The couple has two sons- Abraham and John Richard.

      Early and Domestic Career

ABD trained under Dean Botes in his childhood. The wicket-keeper batsman made his domestic debut for the Northern team in 2003. He joined Titals in 2004 and went on to play for the same team till 2018. He made his international debut just a year after entering the domestic circuit.

      International Career

AB made his international debut in December 2004 with a Test against England. He was a consistent and regular member of the side for his entire career and retired from international cricket in 2018. There were also reports of his international comeback but it did not happen.

During his career, De Villiers played 114 Tests, 228 ODIs, and 78 T20Is for South Africa. The right-handed batsman shattered 8765 runs in Tests, 9577 runs in ODIs, and 1672 runs in T20Is. He also smacked 22 tons and 46 fifties in the longest format and 25 centuries and 53 half-centuries in One Day Internationals.

      Franchise Career

AB de Villiers was quite active in his franchise career and played in various franchise leagues. In IPL, he was part of Delhi Daredevils in the first three seasons till 2010. He later joined Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011 and played for the side till his last season in 2021.

He also played in the Caribbean Premier League, Pakistan Super League, and Big Bash Leage. He was part of teams like Barbados Tridents, Rangpur Riders, Lahore Qalandars, and Brisbane Heat. However, he only played one season each for these teams as he was more active in IPL
