Riyan Parag can be termed a Rocking and Powerful batter! With his hard-hitting skills, he has developed himself into a reliable lower-order batsman in no time. Riyan Parag also made his international debut recently in the T20I series against Zimbabwe.
Riyan Parag has gained a lot of fame at the young age of just 22 with his hard work. The right-handed batsman has become an integral part of Rajasthan Royals for the last few years. With his hard-hitting style and match-winning knocks in IPL 2024, he earned a national call-up in 2024.
Early and Personal Life
Riyan Parag was born in November 2001 and is one of the GenZ kids who has a bright future in the national team. His father Parag Das was his childhood coach and helped him to grow and enter the national side from a small city like Guwahati. Notably, Riyan Parag is the first player from Assam to play for the national side.
His father Parag Das was himself a state-level cricketer and his mother Mithoo Barooah Das was a swimmer. Hence, Parag hailed from a sports family background and there are no doubts he had a destiny in the game of cricket.
Domestic Career
Riyan Parag got his first break in the domestic circuit for the Assam Team when he was just 14 years old. He later also played for India Under-19 in the Asia Cup in 2017, which was a big boost for his cricket career. Since 2017, he has been a regular member of the Assam Domestic team.
International Career
Riyan Parag is like a youth tiger cub in the Indian Team as he recently made his debut against Zimbabwe in a T20I series. He has played 3 T20I games but has struggled to showcase his might with the bat.
He batted in 2 innings and scored 2 and 22 in both games. He also bowled some overs but could not grab a wicket. However, it is his first series and he will get more chances in the future to showcase his strength with the bat.
Franchise Career
Like his domestic career, the right-handed batsman has been associated with the same franchise since the start. Parag was picked by Rajasthan Royals as a young member in the 2019 edition and he has been part of the same team.
Even Rajasthan Royals has shown a lot of support for the youngster and retained him over the years despite a few poor seasons. Till now, he has played 69 games for Rajasthan Royals and slammed 1173 runs in 58 innings at a strike rate of 135. Parag has also shattered 6 half-centuries for the side.
